Today we thought we needed to check out The Cow Shed restaurant on Linthorpe Road Middlesbrough. From what I could gather it was a burger joint.
When we arrived it had not long opened for the day, we were presented with a full menu and a small lunch menu. We wanted to check out the chefs full skills so we decided to go with the large menu.
My presumption was right to an extent, this is a burger joint but the selection of burgers on the menu could be described as nothing less than gourmet.
We decided on a ‘Pizza Guy’ and a ‘Peanut Butter Jelly Jam’ both come served with standard skinny fries but we thought we’d upgrade so on one we chose sweet potato fries and the other we chose chunky but funky chips. We also ordered a side of Mac & Cheese balls just for good measures.
We will start with the Peanut butter jelly jam, now I’m a lover of both meat and peanut butter but I’ve never imagined mixing the two, but it caught my eye so I had to try. This burger consisted of two patties emmental cheese, bacon relish and crunchy peanut butter. This came served with a lettuce leaf holding a dollop of coleslaw on it and a huge onion ring on top of the burger bun. I sliced the burger in half to reveal perfectly cooked medium rare burgers with a thick layer of bacon relish and melted cheese and peanut butter oozing from the bun. From the first bite to the last I couldn’t stop thinking about how this is possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten. The twist in flavours from the perfectly cooked beef to the crunchy thick peanut butter and the flavoursome cheese topped off with the absolutely delicious homemade bacon relish, this burger was flawless. Served along with tasty thick chips topped with slow cooked beef brisket and melted cheese wow, all in all a phenom of a meal. This burger was priced at £9.50 + £2.50 for the chips upgrade.
The Mac & Cheese balls are self explanatory and were really well made, full of flavour. These are priced at £4.50 for 3.
The ‘Pizza Guy’ this burger consisted of two patties, chorizo, cheese, pepperoni, mozzarella, cow relish and mustard. Again the burgers cooked to a delicious and juicy medium rare, the two cheeses mixed with the relish and mustard gave it a little kick this along with a pepperoni and a thick slice of chorizo made this burger mouth watering. This came served with the same as the last but we opted for sweet potato fries which where beautiful. This burger was priced at £8.95 + £1 for the chips upgrade.
Overall we were delighted with our meals and we will without a doubt be going back there again. We couldn’t really fault anything with our burgers, the open kitchen gives you a chance to see the chef work his magic and you can see everything is prepared fresh which makes this place even more of a diamond.
We are extremely happy to award The Cow Shed a very worthy and highly recommend 5 Stars. #DobboDines
