Leven Bank Road roundabout work set to start

WORK to create a new roundabout on the A1044 Leven Bank Road is due to get underway on Tuesday (18 April).

The construction of the roundabout will provide the necessary access to the multimillion pound Mount Leven village development.

Weather dependent, the works are set to take 18 weeks to complete and traffic management will be in place throughout.

The first phase of work will include off-peak lane closures, with traffic signals, when necessary between 9.30am and 3pm in order to install cross-road ducts, drainage and street lighting.

The second phase will see traffic using the newly constructed area as works continue in the existing carriageway, with off-peak lane closures in operation when necessary.

Final surfacing and lining works will then be completed during night time closures of the A1044 Leven Bank Road, with a signed diversion route in place.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: “These are vital works to create the necessary infrastructure required to service the new Mount Leven village development and, as always, we’re doing all we can to minimise the disruption and inconvenience to residents.

“As is the case with all roadwork programmes, some disruption is unavoidable, but we would appeal for patience and understanding while these works are completed.”
